Welcome to Vijayaba National College - Maho, Sri Lanka

Founded in 1946, Vijayaba National College is one of the leading schools in the Maho town with a student population of approximately 3000. It is situated in Maho, in the one out of the 25 central schools pioneered by the minister of education Mr.C.W.W.Kannangara with the idea of promoting the education in rural areas and to give equal facilities for the students in those schools.The school was opened temporary at the Balalla Boys School on 3rd January 1946 with 13 students and five teachers.Very soon the new buildings were built in Maho town and the school was shifted to Maho on 3rd January 1947. From then onward up to now it has offered a lot of learned people to various fields in the country.

 

Vijayaba National College has been blessed over the years with dedicated staff who have become more than teachers to their young students. This has resulted in students achieving academic success in the examinations conducted by the Education Ministry in Sri Lanka and proceeding to Universities and Higher Educational Institutes in Sri Lanka and Overseas. The facilities at College in the two hostels for boys and girls, a Computer Assisted Learning Center, two science laboratories, a home science section, two buildings for life skills practice, an aesthetic section, a multimedia unit, a special care unit or disables, a good library and a canteen.

 

College is well known not only for its high academic standards but also, for their achievements in Sports and excellence in Extra Curricular Activities. The College has more than 15 clubs and societies, which gives students an opportunity to gain knowledge in various disciplines and also show their hidden talents and skills at public forum. They also give an opportunity for students to show their leadership capabilities. Vijayaba is well known for it's achievements for sports and has a large play ground and other sports facilities for students.

 

Our vision is "Promoting the skills of the pupils and offer them strength to face the challenges of future as brave and efficient citizens". Vijayaba is no doubt one of the best Colleges in the Maho town.
